Talking Tom Cat 2 is the second game in the Talking Tom Cat series that centers around Tom, a cat that repeats whatever it hears in a funny feline voice.

In the original Talking Tom Cat, Tom was living in an alley like most homeless cats, but in this second version, Tom has moved into an apartment that is much nicer. This is a cool feature since the alleyway felt strange for such a personified cat in the original. This sequel also features a number of new characters, like Talking Ben, a dog who occasional shows up to annoy and tease Tom.

The core feature of Talking Tom Cat 2 remains the same as it was in the original, which is to repeat whatever is said to it. The cat is constantly listening for speech, and it will create a funny recording of anything it hears. The original game also had some limited ways to interact with Tom besides speech, and this second version includes several more ways to have fun with the cat. There's a dedicated fart button that will summon Ben the dog. He'll appear and pass gas, which makes Tom hold his nose in disgust. If you speak to Tom while his nose is pinched, he'll respond in a squeaky voice.

New to Talking Tom Cat 2 is the addition of a bag button, which makes Ben the dog appear with a paper bag. He sneaks up on Tom and busts the bag right near the cat's ear, causing him to jump in surprise. In what could only be called an exceptionally meta inclusion, a phone button has been included that makes Tom pull out his own smartphone so he can play the original Talking Tom Cat game. There are a few other buttons that can be unlocked in the premium version of the game, like a feather button that will trigger Ben to smack Tom with a fluffy feather pillow.

One of the biggest complaints about the original app was that it didn't have a lot of playability. It quickly got boring, and many people stopped using the app after one or two tries. This game has attempted to fix that issue by including a mini-game that allows the player to control Tom as he climbs an endless set of stairs, and he collects coins along the path. While this mini-game is a great improvement over the last game, it is still far too basic to create any long-lasting playability. It's more of a time-waster than anything else.

Other actions that can be used in Talking Tom Cat 2 include petting Tom, which makes him purr, and slapping him in the face, which doesn't make him purr for obvious reasons. You can even record videos of the action on the screen to share with friends. Of course, all these features can be tried out the very first time you use the app, so it might still get boring fast.
